1978 Barbeito Frasqueira Single Cask 112 Boal

The grapes were pressed using a continuous press in September 1978. Fortification took place while the must was still fermenting and in a semi-dry state. The ageing process began in March 1979 in old 620-litre French oak barrels in Warehouse A, which is the warmest of the warehouses where we store our wines. In December 2008, the wine was transferred to 450-litre barrels in Warehouse D, where the average temperature is significantly lower. The concentration acquired during the first 29 years of ageing was substantially reduced over the subsequent 17 years thanks to the change of warehouse and the transfer of the wine to smaller barrels. This enabled us to preserve the wine's balance until bottling.
